The Buckminster Fuller Institute Challenge

I worked with a team to develop interactive wireframes using the highest condiderations of usability and site flow. Deliverables include:

• Comparative Analysis
• Developing User Profiles
• Creating site maps
• Creating Wireframes and Prototypes
• Creating mockups

New York Public Library

I worked in the Maps Division at New York Public Library, using their map rectification software. I was responsible for

• Working with maps of Haiti for earthquake relief and reconstruction
• Researching environmentally sensitive sites along the Newtown Creek and Gowanus Canal in New York City.

Much of the research used in the Haiti maps rectification project was used to aid in the Open Street Maps project, which aggregates geographical information and provides it in an open source format.

Thumbplay Music

I was involved in creating and implementing usability studies for a music streaming site called Thumbplay. Duties included:

• Development of testing methods and heuristics
• Conducting individual usability tests
• Drafting a summary of recommendations.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

As a part of Usability Leadership (LIS 697-10) at Pratt SILS, we conducted a Usability Study on climate.gov a site which educates people on climate change. A document of our findings can be found here. A site map can be found here. And a set of initial wireframes can be found here.

• Performed entire scope of usability testing, including user surveys, moderators guides, post-test surveys and recommendations
• Moderated Usability Tests (6 total) and analyzed and compiled video of tests

Edison

I worked at the Thomas Edison Historical Park in West Orange, New Jersey. Projects included:

• Developing finding aids for past employees of the Edison Laboratories and factories.
• Cataloging and creating a finding aid for Edison's personal laboratory notebooks.
• Creating a database for searching Kinetogram, Edison's journal, which catologs films, actors and directors from Edison's film studio.

Published Works and Academic Papers

I wrote and illustrated a cartooon book called Loving the Cheney Within, a self-help book based on the inner workings of the former Vice President's Brain.

• Intelligence after Intellipedia explores methods of information sharing within the United States Department of Defense, with a social networking utility.
• Digital Cartography examines georeferencing and how it may be used to classify and categorize reference materials using a geographic context.
• Standards for Classifying Geospatial Data: Top-Down Geographical Standards and User-Generated Maps discusses the various standards and how various factions are working to merge these standards into a common geospatial vocabulary for ease of information categorization.
